CHEROKEE - The Estherville Lincoln Central girls came away with a couple top finishes and sixth place overall at the Cherokee Girls Tomahawk Relays on Friday.

Alicia Jorgenson had another strong outing. She won the 200-meter dash in 27.83 seconds and took second in the 400-meter dash in 1:02.11.

"Alicia has got 'state' in mind now and she's not waiting to the end of the season to drop her times," said ELC coach Tina Burton.

Caitlyn Clayton unleashed a throw of 40 feet, 7 inches to win the shot put. She also took second in the discus with a throw of 109 feet.

Also individually, Megan Jensen placed second in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:11.80.

"This was Megan's first time ever," said Burton.

In relays, the sprint medley team of Carson Gjerde, Brisiede Segura, Tayler Karels and Jorgenson took third in 2:04.71.

The shuttle hurdle relay team of Jensen, Coral Franklin, Jordan Phillips and Rachel Bates took fourth in 1:16.

Placing sixth was the 4x800-meter relay team of Bates, Caressa Franklin, Enerson and Hallie Jensen in 11:02.03 and the distance medley team of, Segura, Phillips, Colleen Humble and Emma Christensen in 5:28.53.

"Both the 4x800 and shuttle hurdle dropped a lot of time compared to Tuesday's meet," said Burton. "Some girls didn't have a lot of confidence and I think some were surprised at how well they competed."

Spencer won the meet with 164 points followed by Spirit Lake Park with 117, Pocahontas with 84, LeMars with 72, MOC-Floyd Valley with 62, ELC with 56 and Cherokee with 22 in the Class 2A portion of the meet.
