CHEROKEE - Estherville Lincoln Central dominated the distance events as the Midgets placed fifth at the Cherokee Tomahawk Boys Relays on Thursday.
Joe Heinrichs had a career best time in the 1600-meter run as he won that event in 4 minutes, 42.76 seconds. Heinrichs also won the 800 in 2:06.79.
Lee Christensen ran his best time in the 3200-meter run to win that event in 10:38.96. He also placed third in the 1600 in 4:53.88, another career-best time.
ELC's lone other top finish came in the 400-meter low hurdles as Justin Heinrichs won that event in 58.15 seconds.
ELC's best relay was the 4x400 as Justin Heinrichs, Avery Hansen, Cody Davis and Justin Heinrichs won the event in 3:41.81.
Chase Bonner took third in the shot put with a career-best throw of 46 feet, 5 inches.
The medley relay team of Dan Christensen, Avery Hansen, Kyle DeVary and Rodrick Fuller took fourth in 3:53.75.
The 4x800-meter relay team of Davis, Fuller, Tristan Fales and Nic Peters placed sixth in 9:09.54.
Le Mars won the meet with 118 points followed by Kingsley-Pierson/Woodbury Central with 98, Spirit Lake Park with 95, Spencer with 94, ELC with 64, OA-BCIG with 34, MOC-Floyd Valley with 30, Central Lyon with 14 and Cherokee with 10.
ELC is at the Spirit Lake Co-ed Meet on Tuesday. The Midgets are scheduled to run the 93rd running of the Estherville Relays on Thursday.
