The Estherville City Council accepted the certified list of candidates from the Civil Service commission for a new Chief of Police.

The testing was done on April 30.

Two of the three candidates, Captain Brent Shatto and Sergeant Paul Budach, are current members of the Estherville Police Department. Scott Girres of the Sibley Police Department, is the third candidate.

The three candidates will be interviewed over the next couple weeks. Mayor Kenny Billings will then make a recommendation to the council.

Current police chief Eric Milburn announced his retirement earlier this year, effect Aug. 22.
