ELC falters against JCC

Jackson County Central edged past Estherville Lincoln Central on the Midgets home course on Monday 167-171.

The Huskies' Joe Brinkman was meet medalist with a 36. ELC's Jack Brashear was runner-up medalist with a 41 as he won a three-man, three-hole playoff, which ended up being a dual with teammate Chris Seylar, who also shot a 41. Rounding out ELC's scores were a 44 by Corey Reeves and a 45 by Clay Tredway.

Also, Hunter King shot a 46 and Alec Wycoff a 52.

In junior varsity action, JCC won 188 to 219.

Jake Bortvit and Zach Edwards each shot 54s for ELC while Blake Gjerde shot a 55 and Alex Molacek a 56. Non-counting scores were a 61 by Chase Erickson and a 62 by Reese Vedder.

Indians edge past Midgets

Spirit Lake came out on top against Estherville Lincoln Central on the Midgets' home course on Tuesday.

The Indians carded a 163 to the Midgets' 169.

Spirit Lake's Zach Skopec took medalist honors with a 35 while ELC's Jack Brashear was runner-up medalist with a 37.

Other scores for ELC were 43s by Chris Seylar and Corey Reeves and a 46 by Alec Wycoff. Non-counting scores were a 48 by Hunter King and a 51 by Clay Tredway.

ELC falls to 8-5 overall and 2-3 in the Lakes Conference.

Other Spirit Lake scores were a 38 by Corey Potter, a 43 by Trevor Caldwell and a 47 by Jack Bauermeister. Non-counting scores were a 49 by Drew Fowler and a 51 by Grant Schuchert.

In junior varsity play, ELC and Spirit Lake tied with a 201. For the Midgets, Jake Bortvit and Alex Molacek each shot 48s, Chase Erickson shot a 52 and Zach Edwards a 53. Non-counting scores were a 57 by Reese Vedder and a 66 by Dalton Zimmerman.
