ALGONA - Estherville Lincoln Central had plenty of hits against Algona on Thursday, but it was an Algona that allowed Riley Strenge to score the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh.

Despite a couple two-out walks in the bottom of the seventh, the Bulldogs appeared to have the game-winning hit, but were denied with a catch on the warning track by ELC left fielder Zach Humble as the Midgets won 10-9.

Strenge also picked up the win on the mound. He pitched the final 2 2/3 innings striking out five and walking three without giving up a hit.

Tim Greving started and went 3 2/3 innings. He gave up six runs (four earned) on five hits with two strikeouts and two walks. Dan Christensen pitched a two-thirds of an inning and as he gave up three earned runs on three hits with two walks and one strikeout.

At the plate, Strenge was 3-5 with an RBI; Alec Wycoff was 3-5 with a double and three RBIs and Billy Snyder was 2-4 with two RBIs. Carsten Bosch, Greving, Trey Jacobson and Corey Reeves each had one hit.
