SPENCER - The Spencer Tigers nipped Estherville Lincoln Central for the second time this season with a 3-1 victory over the Midgets on Wednesday.
The loss was the third straight for ELC after starting the season 12-2.
The Tigers built a 3-0 lead before the Midgets threatened in the sixth inning.
ELC loaded the bases with no outs, but only managed to push one run across the plate.
Austin Egeland took the loss for ELC. Only one of Spencer's three runs was earned. Egeland struck out two batters and gave up six hits and two walks in the loss.
ELC managed five hits as Trey Jacobson went 1-2, Billy Snyder and Zach Humble each went 1-3 and Riley Strenge and Austin Egeland each were 1-4. Strenge had the team's lone RBI.
Spencer sophomore Jake Kluender struck out eight ELC batters and scattered four walks to get the win.
