SWEA CITY - North Union broke open a scoreless game with three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Class 2A sixth-ranked Warriors defeated Class 2A No. 5 Central Springs 3-0 on Thursday.
Oleson earned the win on the mound striking out one batter and walking one while giving up just two hits.
The Warriors also only had two hits with Sara Rolling going 1-3 with a double and an RBI while Oleson was 1-2 with two RBIs.
North Union (19-5 overall) traveled to the Spencer Tournament on Friday, which continues today.
NU triumphs with 28 hits in doubleheader
WEST BEND - North Union continued its run through the Cornbelt Conference on Monday with a doubleheader sweep over West Bend-Mallard on Monday. The Warriors took game one 9-4 and the second, 11-1, in six innings.
The Warriors pounded out 14 hits in the first contest with Dena Looft going 3-4 with two RBIs and Sarah Rolling going 3-3 with a home run and two RBIs. Kyarsten Mullen was 2-4 with two RBIs and Peyton Oleson and Erica Anderson each went 2-4 with an RBI. Shaylee Hanning finished 1-4 while Autumn Boland was 1-5 with an RBI.
Oleson earned the win on the mound as she gave up four runs (three earned) on nine hits with seven strikeouts and one walk.
In the second game, the Warriors jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning and didn't give up the one run until the bottom of the sixth inning.
Oleson again was on the mound as she gave up one earned run on three hits with six strikeouts and two walks.
The Warriors again had 14 hits with Rolling going 3-4 with two doubles and three RBIs. Boland finished 2-2 with a home run, a triple and four RBIs. Anderson was 2-3 with an RBI while Looft was 2-4. Jessica Govern was 1-1 with an RBI; Anna Ingalls was 1-2; Breanna Anderson was 1-3 with an RBI; Oleson was 1-4 with an RBI and Mullen was 1-5.
Warriors split games at Fort Dodge Tourney
FORT DODGE - North Union finished the Fort Dodge Tournament with a 2-2 record last Friday and Saturday, June 20-21.
On Friday, the Warriors lost 8-7 to Bishop Heelan. After North Union took a 5-1 lead, the Crusaders scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead. Both teams scored two runs in the sixth inning.
Peyton Oleson took the loss on the mound for the Warriors. She pitched six innings and gave up eight runs (four earned) on five hits with two strikeouts and two walks.
The Warriors finished with 11 hits led by Dena Looft, who went 3-4 with an RBI. Autumn Boland finished 2-4 with a double, a home run and two RBIs. Kyarsten Mullen was 2-3 while Sarah Rolling and Oleson each went 2-4. Rolling had three RBIs and Oleson had one.
The Warriors came back with a 5-3 win over Webster City, taking a 5-0 lead through five innings and holding on for the win.
Oleson was on the mound again, pitching seven innings while giving up three runs (two earned) on four hits with nine strikeouts and two walks.
The Warriors finished with seven hits with Rolling going 2-3 with two doubles and three RBIs. Mullen also was 2-3 while Shaylee Hanning was 1-1 and Looft and Anna Ingalls each went 1-3.
On Saturday, the Warriors were held without a hit against BCLUW in a 7-0 loss. Oleson took the loss as she gave up seven runs (five earned) on 11 hits with three strikeouts and two walks in five innings. Ingalls pitched one inning and gave up no hits and one walk.
The Warriors responded with a 5-0 shutout against Emmetsburg. Oleson was again on the mound. She struck out fie batters and gave up six hits.
North Union finished with five hits with Looft going 2-4 with a home run, a double and three RBIs. Oleson was 1-3 with an RBI while Erica Anderson was 1-3 and Mullen was 1-4. Taylor Mathine had an RBI.
