Ila Mae Heidenwith, age 89, of Knoxville and formerly of Estherville and Wallingford, Iowa passed away Wednesday afternoon, July 2, 2014 at her granddaughter's residence of rural Knoxville.

Ila was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on October 6, 1924, the daughter of Ross H. and Ina M. (Bartley) Vaux. Ila graduated from West Bend High School in West Bend, Iowa, Class of 1942.

On May 14, 1944 in Whittemore, Iowa, Ila and Ellsworth Heidenwith were united in marriage. Ila and Ellsworth were blessed with many years of marriage before Ellsworth's passing.

Ila lived in Estherville and Wallingford for most of her life and was a homemaker and worked outside the home for several years. She worked in Estherville at a paint and glass store for over six years and she was a bookkeeper for the Motor Inn Car Company for 11 years. Ila is a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and ladies aid, a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She enjoyed wintering in Texas, crafts and quilting. In 2009 Ila moved to Knoxville, Iowa to be closer to her granddaughters.

Ila is survived by her son, Lyle Heidenwith of Sequin, Texas; special family friend, Paul (Kathy) Gade of St. Paul, MN; three grandchildren, Michele Heisler and Donny Brandon of Knoxville, Christy (Rick) Remus of Ankeny and Amy (Mark) Chism of Sequin, Texas; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild. Ila is also survived by her brother, Allen (Irene) Vaux.

She was preceded by her parents, Ross and Ina; her husband, Ellsworth; her twin daughters in infancy, Karen and Karol; her grandson, Marcus Heidenwith; and one infant sister.

Ila's memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Estherville with Pastor Tom Marth officiating. Burial will follow services at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery of Whittemore, Iowa.

A memorial has been established for the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Estherville or the Pleasant Care Nursing Home of Pleasantville and can be sent to the Winfield Funeral Home, 202 E. Washington St., Knoxville, IA 50138. Condolences may be sent to The Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville is helping Ila's family with services.
