The Emmet County Board of Supervisors Tuesday approved two utility permits.

County engineer Walter Davis-Oeth presented both permits for approval. The first permit approved was for Interstate Light and Power to construct utilities in the north 150th Street right of way from county Road N52 (490th Avenue) west approximately 812 feet.

The other was to Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative to cross the county road at 5055 230th Street.

In other business, the board set two public hearing dates. One was for 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26 for a rezoning request for J&J Land Inc. from R2 to C-1. The rezoning is for a 600-by-600 parcel south of Estherville Golf Course.

The other public hearing set for 9:40 a.m. the same day is for a minor subdivision for Robert and Linda Louwagie. Surveyor John Wittneben said the reason for the subdivision was so the Louwagies could sell a portion of the property they own.

The board also approved claims, drainage and cleaning out a ditch at 190th Street.
