Estherville Rotarians Thursday heard how one Okoboji couple is offering the benefits of yoga to our area.
Janine and Tom Gustafson of Yoga Okoboji have been located in the Stables Office Plaza which they own at 1906 Highway 71 in North Okoboji for the last 10 years.
Janine said her clientele includes mainly women 30-80 with an initial focus on a physical regimen along with meditation and breathing. They plan on moving sometime in September into a new building that's earth friendly.
The new facility will feature radiant floor heating and be totally solar-powered by 92 panels tilted 15 degrees to the south. Tom said he will have a bidirectional meter which will give them credit for excess energy generated.
They're also doing a restoration pond on the property with permeable concrete to reduce runoff.
They also plan on starting "hot yoga" in a 90-degree room, moving into the new studio in September. They also hope to offer Yoga for golf.
"It's a unique thing that I'm proud to bring to Northwest Iowa," said Janine, noting that hers was the sixth designated yoga school three years ago. to date, she's had students from all 50 states, England and Spain.
