Storm event occurred Sunday

Gruver-area resident Deb Schroeder took photos of a tornado that swept between the Gruver and Dolliver area at about 7 p.m. Sunday.

A heavy wall cloud was clearly visible from Estherville shortly before. Schroeder said she saw the cloud start to dip when she was driving east from Estherville on Highway 9.

"It was just a little ways east of us when it went down," said Schroeder who added that she hadn't heard if there was any damage from the tornado. She tried to call a neighbor to warn them but no one was home at the time.

"It would go up and come down" and change shape, said Schroeder.

Schroeder said there was no sound to the twister and conditions were still.

"It wasn't blowing anything. It was still," she said.

Schroeder said she saw another tornado at about the same location in 1988.

Enmnet County Emergency Director Terry Reekers confirmed that the tornado did touch the ground for about 45 seconds and then went back up again.
