Pioneers end losing streak at Warriors’ expense

ARMSTRONG - Okoboji's 27-game losing streak came to an end in Armstrong on Friday as the Pioneers defeated the North Union 28-8.

The visitors went on top 10-0 in the first quarter and scored 15 unanswered in the third quarter to pull ahead 25-0.

The Warriors finally got on the board with a 1-yard touchdown run by Josh Braddock with Braden Ortman scoring the two-point conversion.

The Warriors ran the ball well, but couldn't put the first downs together.

Ortman finished with 175 yards on 19 carries while Trent Pedersen had 69 yards on 14 carries and Braddock had 77 yards on 10 carries.

Ortman completed two passes for 17 yards. Pedersen had one catch for 14 yards while Braddock caught one pass for 3 yards.

Defensively, Eythan Blair had 11 tackles. Adam Brandt and Mark Mather each had a sack. Dyson Umscheid finished with eight tackles and Braddock had seven.

North Union (0-1) is on the road against Sioux Central next Friday.
