Tri-State Paving of Estherville which received the 2014 Quality in Construction Award from the National Asphalt Pavement Association for its work on Iowa Highway 9 an US 71 in Emmet and Dickinson counties. Tri-State received the award at the association's 60th annual meeting in Marco Island, Fla. Jan. 28.

Thumbs up to Erin Guge of Camden Photography for hosting Business After Five Tuesday night. Camden Photography is located to the rear of the Edward Jones building on Central Avenue.

Thumbs up to Iowa Lakes Community College vocal and instrumental students for a great coffee house Tuesday night at The Max. These young people always put on a great concert and they're a credit to the Iowa Lakes music program. A big thumbs up also has to go to Carol Ayres and Brett Fuelberth for helping produce such great musicians.

Thumbs up to the Emmet County Wellness Coalition that met Wednesday at the Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative board room. A big thumbs up also has to go to ILEC for providing the space for the coalition to meet.

Thumbs up to the Estherville Good Samaritan

Society for hosting two events for residents this week - the Valentine's king and queen coronation on Thursday and the couples' meal on Friday. A continued thumbs up has to go to B.J. Baskerville, the new administrator.

Thumbs up and congratulations to Iowa Lakes Community College on its observance of the 10th anniversary of the college wind turbine. A program will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Sustainable Energy Resources and Technologies building.

Thumbs up to the area wrestlers who qualified for today's district meet and good luck to them as they try to earn a trip to the state tournament.

Thumbs up to the Estherville Lincoln Central senior basketball players, who were honored prior to Friday's basketball game against Emmetsburg.

Thumbs up to Estherville Lincoln Central's One-Act play, which earned Special Recognition at the IHSSA?State Large Group Speech Contest. Students include Madison Rimmer, Tristan Waterman, Cayli Newton, Alex Murray, Emily Slaughter, Elizabeth Herrick and Riley Koons.
