February 13, 2015
by Britney Rosburg - ISU Extension Program Educator , Estherville News

The winter season is a great time for farmers and producers to take advantage of programs to learn what is happening in the industry and I am excited to offer you such an opportunity.

On Feb. 19, the North Iowa Agriculture Summit will take place at Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg. This will be a day where you can participate in breakout session, network and learn.

The Summit will feature two key-note speakers. Dan Frieberg from Premier Crop will discuss Big Data and how it is being used within the agriculture industry and provide ways producers should analyze data collected. Chad Hart, ISU Ag Economist, will discuss today's agriculture economy and how producers can positon themselves within the industry as grain prices are dropping. Breakout session topics will include: estate planning, farm business management, tiling and sub-irrigation, Farm Bill, feedlot runoff control, nutrient reduction strategies and beginning farmer programs.

The registration fee is $35 and includes workshop materials, lunch and refreshments. For more information and to register call 800-252-5664 or visit www.iowalakes.edu/continuing_education. Course number is # 59765.
