Thumbs up, thumbs down

Estherville News

Thumbs up to Dist. 4 Sen. Dennis Guth and Dist. 7 Rep. Tedd Gassman for holding a Legislative Town Hall meeting last Saturday during the Farm, Home, and Living Show at the Regional Wellness Center. Both legislators were very informative about what's happening in Des Moines and both were very receptive to answering people's questions and addressing their concerns.

Thumbs up to the Black Knights Car Club which presented a $1,000 check to the Estherville Fire Department for its new rescue truck at the department pancake breakfast last Sunday. The Knights are a great group that's doing some great things for Estherville and the surrounding area.

Thumbs up to the retailers who took part in the retail brainstorming session Tuesday night at the Estherville Area Chamber of Commerce. It was a great opportunity for people to share ideas.

Thumbs up to Iowa Lakes Community College students who had a great coffee house Tuesday night at The Max. There seems to be no end to the great talent these musicians offer every month.

Thumbs up to all the exhibitors at the job fair at Iowa Lakes Community College Wednesday morning. Prospective employers were in both The Max and at the S.E.R.T. building, taking applications and helping students and others advance in their careers.

Thumbs up to the exhibitors at the Wellness Expo Wednesday afternoon at the Regional Wellness Center. In addition to a lot of booths, where were very informative presentations on proper footwear, workplace ergonomics and cooking.

Thumbs up to Pizza Hut for a great Business After Five Wednesday night. This is a venue that few people miss. Great job, Pizza Hut, and congratulations to Tucker Milburn, new manager and one of Estherville's own.

Thumbs up to Emmet County Naturalist Jenna Pollock who gave a great program on the Emmet County Water Trails at Thursday's Rotary meeting. Jenna has been a big plus for Emmet County and, fortunately for her but sadly for us, is moving on to a position as director of the Clayton County Conservation Board in her home county.

Thumbs up to Citizens Community Credit Union for its generous donation Friday to Pack Away Hunger.
