Relay donations appreciated

Estherville News

Dear Editor,

A special thank you to all our Relay for Life teams and sponsors! There are many ways you can help whether it is time, money or donations. It is our common goal to help fund research to fight cancer, so no one fights alone. I know that many people wonder WHERE DO MY DONATIONS GO?

I received a phone call from Matthew Jacobs, Assistant Professor of the Department of Logistical and Computer Engineering at the University of Iowa. They were the recipients of an award from the American Cancer Society. They were given my name as a contact for Relay for Life, as a source of the fundraising. I was not available, but he left a message, here is part of it:

"I am calling to express our gratitude for your selfless work in fund raising, which supports cancer research at a lot of research facilities including ours. We develop new imaging methods for planning therapy and treatment plans for brain cancer patients. We are developing new MRI methods."

So there you have it. The money we are raising is staying in Iowa, and being put to very good use. Maybe this will motivate someone else to "Finish the Fight" so we can help our loved ones through this disease.

Thank you for your continued support of Relay for Life and mark your calendars for June 6, 2015 to participate in the next Emmet County Relay for Life. Also, watch for upcoming fundraisers in the Daily News.

Lisa Kiefer,

POWER OF WALLINGFORD, EMMET COUNTY RELAY FOR LIFE, AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY
