Enjoy the great outdoors

May 15, 2015
Estherville News

Camping season is upon us and it is time to dust off those campers, tents and RVs.

Camping is great way to take time from the rush of your daily lives and enjoy the little moments in life. It is a time to gather up friends and family, get away from those phones and television screens and enjoy what nature has to offer.

The smell of the fresh dew on the grass and the chill of the morning air or the mouthwatering smell of bacon and eggs over an open fire is just a few of those little moments that seem to make all worries drift away down the river.

The laughs and the tales told by family members provide the perfect entertainment and if that is not enough to keep you occupied, then perhaps boating or a game of volleyball or horseshoes.

This could be the year that you reel in that record-breaking walleye or maybe you are just out to catch your limit in crappie and bluegill.

Maybe this is the first time you take your son and daughter fishing and you get to watch their eyes light up as they bring in their very first fish, which will probably be bigger than the one you caught.

That is the great opportunity residents have in and around Estherville. There are a number of wonderful parks, campgrounds, rivers and lakes including Wolden Recreation Area, Tuttle Lake, Pappy's Lakeside or the Iowa Lake Wildlife Area to just name a few.

If you haven't made your camping plans this season or have not ever been camping, it is a great time to start. So pull those campers, tents and RVs out, gather your friends and family and get ready for the great outdoors!
