The Estherville Lincoln Central softball team came to play during Thursday's 10-0, six-inning win against Forest City at Estherville.

The Midgets' first run came from a bunt single from Carson Gjerde, allowing Megan Jensen to reach third. An error on the throw to first gave Jensen the opportunity to steal home. In a caught ball by Forest City's outfield, Morgan White tagged back to third and then stole home for ELC's second run.

In the fourth inning, Jensen singled allowing Caitlyn Clayton to score the run. Another single by Carson Gjerde sent Hallie Jensen home for Midgets' fourth run. White swings for contact, taking her to first and giving Gjerde and Jensen the runs, ending the fourth, 6-0.

In the sixth inning, Gabby Heckard hits a single, bringing home Gjerde and Jensen for two runs, White stole home on an error by Forest City and Clayton bunted a single bringing Heckard into home plate and ending the game, 10-0.

Taking the mound and the win for the Midgets was Gjerde who held her own, throwing for 10 strikeouts and only two hits.

ELC finished with 10 runs on 12 hits.

Improvement for next game includes adjusting to the pitcher said ELC Coach Megan Anderson.

"They let that third strike go by. I'd rather them swing and miss, then let the ball go by," commented Anderson.

"I am very happy with how the game turned out," said Anderson. "They played with a lot of intensity and a lot of energy. They hit the ball well, ran the bases well, played defense well and Carson had an outstanding game."

The ELC junior varsity sent Forest City back to the bus in two innings, winning 11-0.

Earning RBI for ELC were Heckard, 2, Rylee Miller, 2, Karmen Hazen, 1, Ally Andrews, 1, and Ruschy, 1.

JV finished the game with 11 runs off seven hits.
