Drive alert, not distracted

June 24, 2015

With the warm days, people are out soaking up the sunshine on their bicycles, motorcycles and mopeds. While these are activities to enjoy, they also require safety precautions from the driver and other drivers.

Lately, we have noticed a number of motorcycle and bicycle accidents.

If you are the driver of one of these two-wheeled vehicles, please be aware of other drivers. You are at a higher risk of injury than someone in an enclosed vehicle. Also, wear a helmet and eye protection. These could save your life.

If you are a parent of a child who drives a moped or rides a bicycle to get around town, make sure that they wear a helmet and follow traffic laws and signs.

If you are driver of an enclosed vehicle, look for those on motorcycles, bicycles and mopeds. People drive distracted quite often, and you don't want someone's injury or death on your hands.

The summer months are a time to enjoy the outdoors, however, safety is even more important. Accidents happen far too often and many of them can be prevented.

It is everyone's responsibility to be alert and use precaution when driving, whether you are age 15, 30 or 60.

There is no price you could pay that would make up for a traumatic injury or the loss of someone's life.
