What's not to get excited about fall. The world turns into a magical playground of reds, yellows, oranges and browns. The air cools and you get to pull out your favorite sweatshirt, not to mention the beginning of wonderful holidays of Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas that are right around the corner.

Along with fall, also come activities that provide fun for the whole family!

Here are some great activities to get you excited for the fall season:

1. Leaf jumping! What is more exciting for the young and old than hearing that crunch of leaves under your shoes and watching the young jump into a pile of leaves as they giggle with excitement!

2. Host a party! What better weather for a party that fall weather. Fall presents the season of so many delicious apple and pumpkin treats as well as the beauty of earthy tones to decorate with.

3. Picking apples! What is more fun than taking family and friends out to your local orchard and picking apples and perhaps enjoying some warm apple cider or apple pie. Maybe even try bobbing for apples.

4. Get a head start on a homemade Halloween costume! Halloween is a holiday for all ages to enjoy. Whether your making a costume for your child or yourself, get a head start so you can make it the best costume of the night!

5. Get to baking! Apple pie, pumpkin pie, Halloween shaped sugar cookies! There are so many wonderful fall desserts to enjoy and what better way to enjoy them than baking with family and friends.

6. Get crafty! Why not make your own fall decorations. Not only is it inexpensive, it is a great way to bond with the family. Homemade decorations are also much more meaningful.

7. Knit your new fall scarf! Fall is a great time to cozy up in your favorite blanket and chair and get some knitting done! If you do not know how to knit or your children do not know how to knit, this is a great time to learn. Why buy a scarf when you can create your style that all will be envious of.

8. Paint pinecones! Enjoy what nature has to offer. Painting pinecones, whether it be hot pink or lime green can be a fun activity for everyone and provide great fall decorations for the home.

9. Check out the Emmet County Fall Youth Day this Sunday, Sept. 6! What better way to bring in the new season than watching children enjoy the outdoors and perhaps try their hand at archery or trapshooting.

10. Peterson Point Pioneer Day is Sept. 19! What better way to appreciate today's luxuries than taking time to see how people lived back in the day. From a spinning demonstration to homemade ice cream, there is so much to learn and see during Pioneer Day.

While this is just a short list the fun to be had this fall, hopefully it gets you excited for the fall season and all the opportunities it has to offer.
