Thanks for an exciting fall season

November 1, 2015

With the first slight dusting of snow we begin the long goodbye to autumn. The nights spent sweating as the September sun beat down as we sat in the bleachers has given way to grabbing thermoses of coffee and cocoa and extra hats and blankets as we watch the same players dart across the field. We saw growth in ELC football as they sought to improve their stats and qualify for a playoff berth. ELC and North Union cross country each sent a stand out runner to the state meet.

Volleyball from junior varsity to Iowa Lakes has given us indoor nights of suspense, noise, drama, and the excitement as one well placed move can change the whole game.

ELC's swimmers improved their times swimming with Algona's team and traveling long distances to hit the water.

Let's not forget the band as they completed another excellent year on the field of competition.

The choirs from ELC?and GTRA?are set to join seven other choirs in the first honor choir at Iowa Lakes this coming week. This is evidence of their hard work. The marching bands represented us well at competitions and week in and out at the games. ELC's drama department is tackling a challenging play, "Letters to Sala."?We hope everyone will get out to see it.

When the school principals give their reports at the school board meetings, they praise the growing academic success and great behavior overall of students in and out of class.

The staff of the Estherville News says thank you for the dedication of students, their teachers and coaches, and parents and guardians for making this a terrific fall season.

We are excited to see the winter teams and activities start up and bring us more great things to watch.
