What I am thankful for

November 22, 2015

It is so easy to think about all the things I don't have or the goals I have not reached. I will admit that I often take for granted the many wonderful things that are in my life. Up until this past week, I have put a lot of focus on where I am going, what I want to do and why I haven't got there yet.

In spirit of Thanksgiving, I want to share what I am thankful for.

I am thankful for my beautiful daughter. Born Sept. 29, 2015 at 9 pounds and 23 1/2 inches long, that little girl has changed my life. If you would have asked me a year ago what I would be doing today, if would not have involved that little girl. However, I could not imagine my world without her.

I am thankful for the man I get to call mine. He is my partner in crime, my best friend, and my rock. I am not always the easiest person to deal with and yet he finds a way to survive. He brings a smile to my face, wipes the tears from my eyes and tells me I am beautiful everyday. He is a wonderful father and I am fortunate to find someone to spend everyday for the rest of my life with.

I am thankful for my family. It is my dad who has always been there to catch me when I fall as well as every time my car broke down or I needed a little extra cash during college.

It is my mom who is always there when I need an ear to listen or when I seem to forgotten something. It is my sister who is my best friend, someone to hear me out when things are just not going my way and the person who will gladly tell me I am being ridiculous. It is my brother, who although I never get to see, I know will always be there for me. It is my dog, who has been with me for the past two years as I dragged him on road trip after road trip, who doesn't mind my horrible singing and who I know will always be excited to see me when I come home.

I am thankful the wonderful friends I have, new and old. I am thankful for the roof over my, the food in my fridge, the heat in my house and a car that runs. Thinking of all the things I am and should be grateful for is endless. While I am far from rich, I consider myself rich because of the knowledge I have and the love I receive from those around me everyday.

It is easy to forget how rich we are and how easy we have it compared to so many. I am thankful for every year, every day and every breath I am given because when it's over all that will matter is the memories people will share.
