North Union teams split at Garner

Warriors pick up pace in second quarter

GARNER - After a slow start, North Union kept pulling away from host Garner-Hayfield/Ventura on the way to a 52-28 win on Friday.

The Warriors led just 7-6 after one quarter, but upped the tempo in the second quarter to lead 24-14 at the break. North Union kept the pressure on in the third quarter to increase the lead to 39-23.

Samantha Hagedorn led the Warriors with 17 points and five rebounds while Sarah Rolling finished with 11 points and five rebounds. Erica Anderson tossed in eight points and Hallie Reese had seven points in three assists.

North Union finished 13-of-30 from two-point range, 6-of-17 from three-point range and 8-of-12 from the free throw line.

The Warriors (8-3 overall) are home against Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire on Tuesday.

NU cold in loss to Cardinals

GARNER - North Union had a poor start against Garner-Hayfield/Ventura and never could catch fire in a 62-27 loss on Friday.

The host Cardinals won every single quarter, leading 23-4 after one quarter, 34-13 at halftime and 51-21 after three quarters.

Trent Pedersen led North Union with 11 points. Further stats for North Union were unavailable. Sam Cataldo led GH/V with 15 points.

North Union (5-5 overall) hosts Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire on Tuesday.
