Algona takes on Storm Lake and Spencer

SPENCER - The Algona Girls Swim Team dropped a double dual at Spencer with scores of Spencer 79-15 and St. Lake 61-33.

"The girls seemed to struggle all night long with their times," said Algona coach Jim Fisher. " There was some good effort out of some of the JV girls trying to get a spot on the regional team.

Jessica Anderson led the Bulldogs with a second-place finish in the 200 individual medley in 2 minutes, 26.13 seconds.

Natalie Lausen placed third in the 50 freestyle in 28.13 seconds while the 200-medley team of Lausen, Anderson, Kali Garman and Bridget Finley placed second in 2:10.46. Also second was the 400 freestyle relay team of Laura Stowater, Finley, Lausen and Anderson in 4:22.34.

Kirsten Natterstad placed fourth in the 500 freestyle in 7:01.75 while Alexa Gilbert placed fourth in the 100 breaststroke in 1:27.76. Also fourth was the 200 freestyle relay team of Cheyanne Fries, Finley, Stowater and Anderson in 1:56.57.

Algona will take on Storm Lake again today in Emmetsburg.

Editor's note: Seven Estherville Lincoln Central athletes swim with the Algona Swim Team through a sharing program. They include,Natalie Lausen, Bridget Finley, Kirsten Natterstad, Brianna Birkland, Savannah Wilson, Jessica Wilson and Kellie Schmaus.
