MANLY - North Union put up a fight against Central Springs in Thursday's Region 3 semifinal, but the Panthers had too much firepower as they swept the Warriors 3-0.

"They were a talented team," said North Union coach Ashley Scheevel. "Hannah Wagner is one of the best players we have faced all season."

Wagner pounded out 24 kills for Central Springs in their 26-24, 25-15, 25-13 victory over North Union.

"The first set was a close one and if we would have one I think the next two sets would have been closer," said Scheevel. "It is tough to work that hard and lose. I think our nerves got the best of us. They girls never gave up and that's what matters."

The Warriors finished with 38 kills in the game with seven each from Kate Anderson, Olivia Marlow and Maddie Rolling and six by Erin Goraczkowski.

Alexis Valvick and Anderson each had 14 set assists.

Defensively, Lyndsey Dietering had six blocks, Anderson had four and Hallie Reese had three. Bre Anderson finished with 14 digs while Maddie Rolling had 11, Anna Ingalls had eight and Kate Anderson had seven.

The Warriors missed just two serves on the night (45-of-47), but had just two aces-one by Valvick and one by Aly Bierstedt.

"We had a great season this is one to remember," said Scheevel, as the Warriors wrapped up an 18-13 campaign. "The girls really came together this season and played at one."

Five seniors suited up for their final time-Anna Ingalls, Olivia Marlow, Landra McClellan, Alexis Valvick, Lyndsey Dietering and Rachel Monson.

"Our seniors contributed a lot to the team and they will be missed," said Scheevel. "We will lose key hitter, a blocker, a setter and our libero. Overall proud of what we have accomplished."
