TERRIL - After Estherville Lincoln Central and Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire battled to a 39-39 tie, the Titans' Toni Alesch hit two free throws with 8.6 seconds remaining to give the hosts a 41-39 lead. GT/RA then came up with a steal on the opposite end, as ELC didn't get a chance at a last shot as the Titans held on for the win.

The Midgets trailed most of the night to the Titans, but were never quite out of reach. GT/RA led 6-4 in a low-scoring first quarter and the Titans led 19-14 at halftime.

A 3-pointer midway through the third quarter by Josie Condon pulled ELC within two, 22-20. Madison Hough answered to push the lead back to four, but baskets by Sydney Swanson and Molly Diekmann tied the game at 24-24.

In the fourth quarter, the teams were tied at 26-26. Then two free throws by Hough and a basket by Taylor Park pushed the Titan lead back to four. But Condon hit another trey to pull ELC back within one. A basket by Karmen Hazen and another by Lindsey Jensen gave ELC its first lead at 33-31 with 3:10 left in the game. GT/RA responded with an 8-2 to lead 39-35 with 43 seconds remaining. This time Morgan White knocked in a trey to cut the deficit to one.

ELC got the ball back and White was fouled. She missed the first, but made the second to tie the game at 39-39.

GT/RA came back down and Alesch was fouled bringing the ball up the court. Just 2-of-8 from the line prior to this final trip, she made both foul shots for the win.

Hough led the Titans with 14 points while Anna Sorensen had eight, Madison Norris had seven, Alesch had six and Emma Heinrichs and Park each had three.

Sorenson led the Titans with 10 rebounds while Norris had five steals and Alesch had four steals.

Condon led ELC with eight points while Jensen and White each had six, Rylee Miller, Diekmann, Katherine Johnson and Swanson each had four and Hazen had three. White finished with 11 rebounds, three assists and three steals for ELC.

ELC shot 36 percent (15-of-42) from the floor and just 50 percent (6-of-12) from the free throw line.

The Titans shot just 25 percent (12-of-47) from the floor, but made up for it at the free throw line where they shot 63 percent (15-of-24).

ELC (1-3 overall) hosts Storm Lake on Tuesday for the first Lakes Conference game of the season.

GT/RA (4-0 overall) hosts St. Mary's of Remsen on Tuesday in Ruthven.
