Dakota Pack to break ground on expansion

Ceremony is Tuesday

Dakota Pack, a division of Farmers Union Industries, announces a groundbreaking ceremony at 3:30 p.m., March 28, for the new expansion that will double capacity of their cull hog processing facility in Estherville.

This project represents an exciting time in hog production as trends continue to show an increase pork supplies. Construction is expected to wrap up in September, however, Dakota Pack is planning to remain fully operational while construction takes places.

The expansion will provide capacity for increased processing as well as space for new state-of-the-art equipment. One of the more immediate additions will feature cryogenic packing capabilities to broaden the services that are currently offered to customers. Expanding operations will allow the company to continue to reinvest for future growth as the leading processor for out of spec hogs.
