Two men face drug charges after traffic stop

Two men were arrested on multiple charges in Emmet County as a result of a traffic stop last Thursday morning.

According to Emmet County Sheriff Mike Martens, a deputy sheriff initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle at approximately 1:30 am 3 miles west of Wallingford on 230th Street in rural Emmet County.

Upon investigation at the scene, deputies discovered cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana and a loaded .40 caliber handgun. As a result the driver of the vehicle Brody Metzger, 22, of Wallingford, was placed under arrest and charged with operating while intoxicated, possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, failure to affix a drug tax stamp, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A passenger in the vehicle, Demetrius Wright, 37, of Estherville, was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, failure to affix a drug tax stamp, possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, carrying weapons and possession of a firearm as a felon.

Both men were booked into the Emmet County Jail. Wright remains in custody on a $5,000 cash or surety bond and Metzger was released the following day upon the posting surety bond.

Emmet County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the Estherville Police Department and K-9 Max. The investigation into the matter is continuing.
