Estherville News

The 2017 4-H Clover Knowledge Escapade (communication showcase) took place this past Sunday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church. At this event, Emmet County 4-H'ers get to try their hand at presenting by participating in Extemporaneous Speaking, Educational Presentations, Share-The-Fun acts and Working Exhibits.

The event kicked off with Extemporaneous Speaking, which 4-H'ers choose three topics from a hat. They choose one of those three topics to present on and have 30-minutes to prepare. Ethan Marth, Ruth Marth and Emily Chicoine all participated, and all of them received blue ribbons. Ethan Marth and Ruth Marth were selected to go on to the Iowa State Fair in August.

There were six Educational Presentations: Carter Ingvall and Emily Paulson "Hinting about 3D Printing", Maggie Domek "Care and Treatment of the American Flag", Kaylyn Domek "Comparing Slime", Ruth Marth "The Musical Kur in Dressage", Ethan Marth "Exploring the Role and Responsibilities of Film Writers, Directors and Producers", and Emily Chicoine "High Jump". All of these exhibitors received blue ribbons and were selected to exhibit at the Iowa State Fair.

Share the Fun acts are a chance for 4-H'ers to show the community how fun 4-H is and share their talents. There were three acts: "Emmet County 4-H Rhythm Group" presented by Ethan Marth, Ruth Marth, Cecelia Hersom, Rylan Hersom, Angie Palmer and Leah Williams; "Cold Tonight" presented by Brandy Kinnander; and "Ballroom Dance Takes a Turn" presented by Ruth Marth and Ethan Marth. All 3 acts were given blue ribbons and selected to go on to be presented at the Iowa State Fair.

Working Exhibits topped off the afternoon. These involve teaching the audience a concept or idea that they can "take" with them. Carter Ingvall and Emily Paulson exhibited "Stress Less No Mess", which received a blue ribbon and was selected for the Iowa State Fair. Maggie Domek and Kaylyn Domek exhibited "Corner Bookmarks", which also received a blue ribbon and was selected for the Iowa State Fair. Ethan Marth exhibited "Learn to Dance the Basic Waltz" and Ruth Marth exhibited "How to Dance the Basic Foxtrot Step". They both received red ribbons.
