Just over a week after its regular council meeting, the Armstrong City Council has called a special meeting for 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 20 at city hall. After considering a few routine matters, the council will enter into closed session to consider legal matters. This is a closed session pursuant to Iowa Code 21.5(c). The legal matters the city faces include a hearing Friday at 1 p.m. in Emmet County District Court relating to a petition filed by 106 Armstrong citizens for the removal of council members Patty Thackery, Dan Moore, and Rhett Hiney for alleged misconduct.

The city also faces five complaints of prohibited practices relating to employee collective bargaining.

After the closed session, the council will discuss the Mayor's declaration of emergency on June 13, and whether the mayor should reimburse the city for the new locks expense. Mayor Buum drilled through the city hall door lock.
