“Saving Snow” showing in Estherville

The Iowa Great Lakes Chapter of the Citizens Climate Lobby will show the movie "Saving Snow" throughout the area in the coming week. In Estherville, the screening will be Friday, Feb. 23 at 4 p.m. in the auditorium at Iowa Lakes Community College.. March 2 at 1 p.m. a Q & A will follow the screening at the Spencer Public Library. March 3 a panel will present following the 1 p.m. showing at Lakeside Labs Waitt Hall on Highway 86.

"Saving Snow" is a new climate documentary that shows the struggle of people across the country who depend on winter climates for their livelihoods. The film will premiere at the American Birkbeiner ski race where filming of the documentary began.

At the website www.adaptationnow/saving-snow/, users can use an interactive tool covering large swaths of the United States on a digital map to see how winter is warmer in each area of the U.S. According to Climate Central, the developer of the tool, winter in Minneapolis, Minn., is six degrees warmer than in 1970; in Burlington, Vermont winter is seven degrees warmer.
