Twelve presenters walked 250 seventh and eighth graders from area schools through sessions at Iowa Lakes Community College on Pi Day with the goal of turning on their innovation and critical thinking skills in disciplines from wind to fossils.

Northwest Iowa Regional STEM (Science Tehnology, Engineering, Math) manager Mary Trent said the collaborative has been doing this for a couple of years and it gains interest each year.

Students participated from Estherville Lincoln Central, Graettinger-Terril, Harris-Lake Park, Spirit Lake, Emmetsburg Catholic and Emmetsburg Public Schools.
