The Iowa Center for the Book is now accepting applications for the 2018 Iowa Literacy Award that recognizes an organization that has made an outstanding contribution to increasing literacy in Iowa, along with $2,000 to continue their efforts. Nominations are due by Aug. 31.

"We are excited to once again recognize the efforts of an Iowa organization with the Iowa Literacy Award," said Helen Dagley with the Iowa Center for the Book. "This award is a way for us to show our appreciation and support for the valuable work of a worthy organization."

The award will be accompanied by a check for $2,000 and will be presented to the winning organization at a ceremony this October.

Literacy organizations may self-nominate or be nominated by others. Nominations consist of a one-page cover letter, a statement of impact, which explains the value of the organization's work, and one letter of support. A panel of judges will review the nominations and select an award winner.

The award will be presented to the winning organization at the State Law Library of Iowa in Des Moines. The award will be accompanied by a check to support the work of the organization.

The Iowa Literacy Award is made possible with support from the Library of Congress Center for the Book Literacy Awards program, through the generosity of David M. Rubenstein.
