Central Springs 22, North Union 14 Panthers spring past Warriors

MANLY - In a game delayed more than once by lightning, Central Springs prevailed 22-14 over North Union in the season opener for both teams on Friday.

The Warriors' scores came on a 40-yard halfback pass from Isaac Engeman to quarterback Elliott Hagebock and a 9-yard touchdown run by Ryan Lang. Hagebock also ran in a two-point conversion.

North Union finished with 321 yards of offense. Engeman led the way with 136 rushing yards on 30 carries. He also was 2-of-4 passing for 52 yards and the 40-yard touchdown. He caught two passes for 35 yards.

Lang had 18 carries for 78 yards. Hagebock had just 8 yards on three carries, and was 4-of-7 passing for 44 yards. Jacob Bollinger caught two passes for 9 yards and carried the ball twice for 3 yards. Brendan Anderson had one catch for 12 yards.

Defensively, Engeman led the Warriors with 10 tackles. Hagebock had five tackles, Anderson had 4.5 tackles and Lang had four.

North Union (0-1 overall) hosts St. Edmund, Fort Dodge in Armstrong this Friday. The Gaels lost their season opener 41-14 to Panorama. St. Edmund defeated North Union 12-0 last season.
