With this Democratic governor taxes are a shell game. We passed a local option sales tax a few years back. That tax was for building improvements AND for property tax relief. In difficult economic times do not raise taxes. Use the local option sales tax funds to lower the physical plant and equipment levy, lower bond issue debt, and meet "one-time" expenditures without raising taxes. Wise budgeting is necessary in difficult times. We need wise leadership locally and at Terrace Hill in Des Moines.

As much as I don't like to pay taxes, in order to keep our quality teachers, staff and provide upkeep for the buildings, a little more in taxes is not going to break my bank. Even though all of my kids are out of school, I am perfectly willing to pay additional taxes to give other people's children the chance at a better life that my kids had.
