Iowa Lakes strives to serve

December 13, 2012
Estherville Daily News

Maybe you're a single parent, trying to make ends meet. There just isn't enough month at the end of your money, and that's putting you at the end of your rope.

Or maybe you've had the same job for several years now. It's okay. But you haven't had a promotion - or a raise - for several years now. You feel like you've come to a dead end in the road and there's no cul de sac to turn around.

Or maybe you're a parent with a college senior, staring four years of college tuition in the face. It's keeping you up at night. Sometimes all night long.

Or maybe you're just starting high school and you've heard about being able to take college classes while you're in high school - at no charge. When your parents hear about it, they think it's a fantastic idea.

If any of the previous scenarios apply to you, then you might be a great candidate for classes at Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville.

Iowa Lakes has pulled out all the stops, and with the college's new teleconference system, you can take classes evenings or during the Winterim session from late December to late January. There's online courses too, in either 16-week or eight-week formats.

Don't think you have time to take a college class? Well, here's another option.

In January, Iowa Lakes will issue its spring catalogue of continuing ed course offerings. Many of these courses are geared to give you just the skills you need to advance on the job or maybe get that position you've had your eye on for a long time. Courses include everying from Web site design to computer skills to digital photography.

With such a tremendous resource as Iowa Lakes Community College right in our own backyard, we should all try to take advantage of the courses they offer.

Call the Estherville campus at 362-2604 or toll free at 1-800-242-5106 for information about upcoming courses. Or check out their spring continuing education catalogue in January. Or just go online to iowalakes.edu to see what's new at Iowa Lakes.

So go ahead, and do yourself a favor and check out Iowa Lakes.

You deserve it.
