ESTHERVILLE - Funeral services for Mildred B. Anderson, 98, of Estherville will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Pastor David L. Ness officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday only at the funeral home. Interment will be at Estherville Lutheran Cemetery in Estherville.

She died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at Good Samaritan Center in Estherville. She was baptized at Wallingford Lutheran Church.

Mildred B. Anderson, the daughter of Julius and Emelie (Sevold) Anderson, was born Oct. 28, 1914, in rural Emmet County.

She received her education in the Emmet County Schools. Mildred helped with farming at home with her parents until moving to Estherville in 1947. In February of 1947, she started working as a receptionist for E.K. Vaubel, M.D. and continued working there for 33 1/2 years.

She attended Estherville Lutheran Church. Mildred was a lover of nature - woodland hiking, birding, insect study and berry picking. For hobbies, she enjoyed gardening, yard work, flowers, reading, sewing and knitting.

Left to cherish Mildred's memory are four nephews, Arlin E. Ness of Anthem, Ariz., Pastor David L. Ness of Grand Rapids, Mich., Joel E. Sunde of Amery, Wis. and James J. Sunde of Estherville; two nieces, Marilyn Collentine of Cedar Rapids and Charlotte E. Sunde of Amery, Wis.; 10 grand-nieces; three grand-nephews and 11 great-grand nieces and nephews.

Preceding Mildred in death are her parents; three sisters, Alva Sunde, Eunice Petersen and Florence Ness; two grand-nephews, Shawn and Tim Ness; one great-grand niece, Faith Collins and three brothers-in-law, Laurits Sunde, Gilbert Ness and Leonard Petersen.

The family prefers memorials to Avera Holy Family Hospice.
