One organization and two fine Estherville businesses received their due recognition Thursday night when they were recognized as Citizen of the Year and Business of the Year by the Estherville Area Chamber of Commerce.
The Estherville Little League Association received the Citizen of the Year award. Accepting the award were Cory and Michelle Hoyer and Bob and Barb Houseman who headed up efforts to build the pavilion in Thoreson Park.
Recognized as Business of the Year were Hy-Vee and Pepsicola Beverage Company of Estherville. Accepting the award for Hy-
Vee was Travis Morfitt on behalf of manager Scott W
Walters. Bruce Knutson, Pepsicola manger, accepted the award for his company.
What's great about all three entities is that they embody the volunteerism that is at the heart of Estherville's vibrant spirit. All one has to do is think about where our community was about 15 or 20 years ago to realize the miracle that has occurred. Estherville is a vibrant, growing community that has more to offer than many communities several times its size. On top of that, it's a great place to raise a family.
All Estherville Area Chamber of Commerce members should be proud of the contributions they have made to our community. If you're a business but not a chamber member, you should consider joining. The benefits far outweigh the investment and it's a great way to network with other people that can help you grow your business.
