ALLIANCE, Neb., - Bari Eugene Haines, 69, died Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Good Samaritan Health Care Center in Alliance, Neb.
He was born May 1, 1943 at Estherville to Leonard and Eloise (Wymer) Haines. Bari grew up in Estherville and graduated high school there. During his youth he began working as a cook in the restaurant business which he continued in his adult life. He then moved to Grand Island, Neb., working in the restaurant business before serving in the U.S. Army from Jan. 6, 1965 to Jan. 5, 1967 including a tour of service in Vietnam. Following his discharge he moved to Kearney, Neb., and operated the Chef's Oven restaurant. He later moved to Colorado where he owned and operated Winchell Donut franchises in Loveland, Longmont and Aurora. He then retired and moved to Alliance in 2002. He loved to hunt and fish and especially enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycle.
He is survived by his son, Monte, his brother, George Haines of Des Moines, his sister-in-law, Janine Haines of Alliance, his nephews, Brandon (Sarah) Haines of Des Moines, Mark (Sonja) Haines of Chicago, Ill.,, Jaron (Jessica) Haines of Pike Road, Ala. and Keli Haines of Alliance.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John Haines and his sister, Carol Haines, and his brothers, David Haines and Kim Haines.
Graveside services will be Friday, March 8 at 11 a.m. at the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery. Pastor Tom Lucas will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday, March 7 from 1-7 p.m. at the Bates-Gould Funeral Home.
