Midgets fall to Tornadoes

STORM LAKE - The Estherville Lincoln Central Girls Tennis Team opened the season with a 7-2 loss at Storm Lake on Monday.

No. 3 singles player Samantha Rosinger and No. 6 player Emily Jorgenson both picked up wins, but neither came easily. Rosinger won 11-9 while Jorgenson won 11-10 (7-4).

"We had some very good matches in singles, but we have to be mentally tougher," said ELC coach Larry Kirchner.

In other singles play, Bailey Hagen lost 10-8, Madison Burns los 10-4, Amber Schacherer lost 10-5 and Mackenzie Wilson lost 10-1.

In doubles, Hagen and Burns lost 10-6, Schacherer and Wilson lost 10-7 and Rosinger and Jorgenson lost 10-7.

In junior varsity play, Rachel Mueller lost 8-0, Kaylee Nissen won 8-6, Taylor Nissen lost 8-5 and Emily Origer lost 8-1. In doubles, Mueller and Kaylee Nissen lost 8-1 and Taylor Nissen and Origer lost 8-2.

ELC is at Cherokee on Monday.
