Although playing in better weather, the play of the Estherville Lincoln Central girls tennis team didn't improve as the Midgets lost 9-0 to LeMars on Tuesday.
"It was a rough night against a quality opponent," said ELC coach Larry Kirchner. "Our weaknesses were exposed and a good team will take advantage of those."
ELC's top singles player Bailey Hagen did have some good moments against Carolyn Ahlers, but Kirchner said Ahlers is perhaps the top singles player in the conference. Hagen lost 10-3.
In other singles, Maddy Burns lost 10-1 to Emily Ahlers; Samantha Rosinger lost 10-4 to Sophie Arens; Amber Schacherer lost 10-4 to Emily Pick, Mackenzie Wilson lost 10-1 to Jordan Helms and Emily Jorgenson lost 10-1 to Ellen Meis.
In doubles, Hagen and Burns lost 10-1 to Carolyn and Emily Ahlers; Schacherer and Wilson lost 10-1 to Arens and Pick and Rosinger and Jorgenson lost 10-2 to Helms and Meis.
ELC is scheduled to travel to Spencer on Thursday, but current weather reports indicated the teams may have to postponed their meeting.
