Melba Wallace Wilson

Melba graduated from Spirit Lake High School in 1943. She worked for the Dickinson County and Emmet County Recorder and Treasurers' Offices for many years. In Melba's eyes the most important thing in her life was her love for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and Bingo.

Melba was a member of the United Methodist Church, the superintendent of the Montgomery Sunday Schools and was a 4-H leader for many years. She enjoyed spending her spare time square dancing, camping, gardening, fishing, hunting and was a VERY avid Bingo player.

Melba is survived by her children, Merle Wallace, and his wife, Bonnie of Spirit Lake, Bonnie Gross, and her husband, Daryl of Spirit Lake, Jerald "Jerry" Wallace, and his wife, Elaine of Spirit Lake, Keith Wallace of Ft. Dodge, Steve Wallace of Spirit Lake and Mike Wallace of Spirit Lake; sister, Elmine "Joyce" Farquharson of Des Moines; brother-in-law, Silven Moench of Bainbridge, Wash.; sister-in-law, Ann Wallace of Spirit Lake; 15 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Leonard J. Wallace and Merle Gene Wilson; daughters-in-law, Judy Wallace and Cindy Wallace; siblings, Verlynn "Curly" Hilliard, Dwight and Esther Hilliard, Majel "Jim" and Gwen Hilliard, Velma Hilliard, Thelma Moench and Ersel and Ben Seeger; brother-in-law, Hugh Farquharson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Willis and Lucy Wallace; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lynn and Lorraine Wallace; brother-in-law, Dean Wallace; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Aaron "Verle" and Mae Wilson; sisters-in-law, Betty and Dorine Wilson; and brother-in-law, John Wilson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Melba's name. The Schuchert Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
